Customer Highlight: Buffalo Creek Brewery

Brewing has long been a hobby of Mike Marr. He recently took his passion for home brewing to another level with the July opening of Buffalo Creek Brewing in historic Long Grove, Ill. This quaint city north of Chicago is currently undergoing a revitalization and Buffalo Creek Brewing is one of the anchors. Buffalo Creek Brewing offers a Bavarian beer hall experience with communal tables and a beer garden. Mike's goal is to foster a sense of community where customers share tables with strangers, socialize and enjoy table and outdoor games while sampling the rotation of four to six home-brewed beers on tap. Mike is very supportive of the local community through charity fundraisers, yoga events and having local artists perform. Mike says, "Collaborating with local businesses helps all of us succeed. It takes a Village to make a Village."

Mike has made a conscious effort to buy local whenever possible, buying sustainable products and American made glassware from Eco Promotional Products. While Mike has only been open a few months, he's looking to further the sustainability of his brewery by sourcing hops from a Midwest farmer. Additionally, Mike continues to look for new uses for the brewery's spent grain. It's free to local farmers for feed for their livestock and he is in discussions with both a local mulch company and a local confectionary company. The confectionary company is hoping to turn spent grain into people snacks and dog treats. Buffalo Creek Brewing also recycles beer cooling water to use for the next batch of beer.

Buffalo Creek Brewing's high-quality glassware is all made in the U.S. But the favorite branded items Mike purchased from Eco Promotional Products are sustainable cork coasters which Mike says beer enthusiasts like to take home for their collections.
